Sir Alex : Robinho Fantastic !

Ferguson: Robinho Worth Every Penny

Champions Manchester United travel to Eastlands to face Manchester City in the derby tomorrow hoping to avoid a repeat of last season when they lost twice in the league to their local rivals.

Since then much has changed for the Sky Blues, not least the arrival of Robinho from Real Madrid for a British record transfer fee of €42.5 million.

The Brazilian has made an instant impact, scoring eight league goals and according to skysports.com, the United boss clearly thinks he was an excellent signing.

“You think £32million, is he worth it?" mused Sir Alex on Robinho’s goal against Arsenal last weekend, “When he scores goals like that you have to say yes.”

Robinho looks set to recover from an ankle injury to feature in tomorrow’s game and Ferguson admitted the former Madrid man was a special talent. He said: “The audacity and composure were absolutely brilliant. Maybe he is not in the game a lot but he produces these moments that others cannot do.”

Yet the United boss also warned counterpart Mark Hughes that he would need to handle his new signing with care in order for him to adapt to life in England well.

“It is always the same, whether a player costs £32m or £2m,” explained the Scot, “When they come from another country you have a job to do in terms of how they interact with other players, adapt to a different culture and learn the language.”

Of course the champions themselves have their own South American contingent at Old Trafford with the likes of Anderson, Rodrigo Possebon, the Da Silva twins and Argentinean Carlos Tevez and Ferguson admitted managing them all was a challenge.

“There are a lot of things you have to do with these players, not just from Brazil and Argentina but all countries,” he revealed before concluding, “That is what I find is fantastic about today's game. I have 17 different nationalities at this club. It is a fantastic challenge to deal with the situation and make sure there is harmony in the place.”
