Ancelotti : Milan Must Close The Gap !

Ancelotti Wants Milan To Close The Gap

Second-placed Milan travel to Palermo without suspended Brazil playmaker Kaka who, according to coach Carlo Ancelotti, will be badly missed despite not having regained his best form after missing the start of the season with a knee injury.

Dutch midfielder Clarence Seedorf is likely to move forward to take Kaka's place alongside the in-form Ronaldinho in support of a lone striker, who is likely to be Alexandre Pato.

The Rossoneri will be hoping for a good result away from home to forget their 2-2 draws away to Portsmouth on Thursday and Torino last weekend.

The Rossoneri have a stunning run of 16 games unbeaten in all competitions, and they will want to extend that further. Palermo have had mixed results recently, but they certainly have the firepower to worry any team in Serie A, with Edison Cavani and Fabrizio Miccoli in attack.

Ancelotti spoke at a press conference ahead of tomorrow night's game. “I am hoping that we can close the gap. We need to get as many points as possible. The Nerazzurri are three points ahead of us and we want to reduce the gap between now and Christmas. We will need to play important games but we are more than ready for that,” said the coach.

Ancelotti continued, “Tomorrow's will be a difficult away match, that arrives after another away match in the UEFA Cup. It is a delicate moment but the squad is feeling good, although Palermo are very dangerous at home.”

On the subject of Gennaro Gattuso being left out of the squad for tomorrow night's game Ancelotti revealed, “He had problems with his back. It was a surprise and a disappointment because he was in great condition. However, Ambrosini will return.”
