Heinze Unhappy, Maybe Move To Anfield

Manchester United rejected a €10 million bid from Liverpool for full-back Gabriel Heinze in summer 2007, leading to a bitter stalemate.

Sir Alex Ferguson was reluctant to sell the player to a rival Premier League side, but was willing to let him go due to his faith in Patrice Evra. Thus, he waited for another bid and sold the Argentine to Real Madrid a month later for around €10 million

Heinze was determined to go to Anfield at the time and could soon be granted his wish, if reports published in People are to be believed.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez is said to be ready to swoop for the injury-plagued 30-year-old in January. He's unhappy with his current full-backs and sees the experienced Heinze as the final piece of a title winning puzzle.

Andrea Dossena in particular has failed to adapt to the pace of the Premier League since his move from Udinese and could already be set for the scrapheap.

Nonetheless Madrid may be reluctant to sell due to their injury crisis which has most recently seen Pepe hit the treatment table.
