The French international will be available to coach Pep Guardiola for Saturday's encounter with Valencia and his return will be welcome news wih Real Madrid and then Villarreal up next for the Blaugrana.

Abidal suffered a blow to his right knee at the start of November and was originally told that he would be out of action for three weeks, but that timeframe was extended.

Sylvinho, Carles Puyol and Martín Cáceres have all covered at left-back in his absence and rumours even arose that the club were watching Nadir Belhadj, who is on loan at Portsmouth from Lens.

With Abidal back in action, Barça now have just two players left in the treatment room with Andrés Iniesta expected to be back within a fortnight and Gaby Milito, who will not return until the new year at the earlies.

Iniesta has been out for a month after injuring his thigh in the Champions League encounter with Basel, while Milito was operated on both knees in May and told he may not play for nine months.
