Inter Milan vs Anorthosis famagusta 1-0, Champions League 2008

Inter Milan:
Francesco Toldo: 6.0 – If not for his one save, I would have written “n/a”. The retired Italian international was untested for nearly the entire match. I think I may have seen him set up a lawn chair in front of goal. Then again, the cameraman only turned far enough to show him for a moment.
Javier Zanetti: 7.0 – The Argentine international’s 35-year-old legs seem to never fail. Offensively, he did well to bring the ball forward, and he never failed to provide on the defensive end.
Ivan Cordoba: 7.5 – One of the reasons why Toldo could have called in sick today without having any adverse effect on his team. Although he was rarely tested, he did his job, and well.
Cristian Chivu: 7.5 – Another one of the reasons why Toldo could have called in sick today without having any adverse effect on his team. Like Cordoba, Chivu had little work to do, but was ever ready to help and made no mistakes.
Maicon: 7.0 – His assist to Adriano won the match for Inter, and that alone earns him his rating. Would have earned a 7.5 if not for his terribly missed header on 3 minutes that could have saved Jose Mourinho’s nerves.
Sulley Ali Muntari: 7.0 – The Ghanain international will be disappointed to have failed to score tonight. While his 49th minute open header was a poor effort, his 10th minute shot was only denied by an excellent save.
Esteban Cambiasso: 8.0 – Was content to stay back and pull the strings in central midfield. His efforts were enough to disrupt any of Anorthosis’ forward progress in the middle.
Dejan Stankovic: 7.5 – A solid performance from the Serbian. He effectively mediated Inter’s transitions from defense to offense, on many occasions providing good long-balls to the forwards.
Mancini: 5.0 – Uninspired play from the Brazilian. Aside from a lazy 40-yard shot that missed by a mile, the left forward took no shots, and he only provided two decent crosses, neither of which resulted in goals. His only bright spot in the match was hardly his doing; he received a cross in the penalty area and, instead of volleying (a better idea), he passed back for Muntari to shoot.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic: 5.5 – Active, but strikers are paid to score goals, and Ibra could not do just that. When he did run, he missed; refer to his missed 1-on-1 with the keeper on 68 minutes. Otherwise, he rather lazily settled for speculative long-ranged efforts.
Adriano: 8.0 – Scored a deserved winner and was the only real producer among an unimpressive Inter front line. His passing was inventive and, unlike his teammates, he actually threatened to score.
Subs
Ricardo Quaresma: 4.0 – Squandered his chance to prove something to Mourinho. A good performance from the Portuguese international following Mancini’s poor display could have earned him a starting role. He was even given a clear chance at goal in the 91st minute, but couldn’t control the ball. A disappointment.
Julio Cruz: n/a
Nicolas Burdisso: n/a
Anorthosis Famagusta:
Arjan Beqaj:7.5 – I can’t believe I’m saying this, but, like Toldo, Beqaj was hardly tested. Inter managed just four shots on goal the entire match, and Beqaj saved three. Adriano’s goal was no fault of Beqaj’s, and the Albanian delivered when it came to positioning himself and knocking away dangerous balls.
Jeffrey Leiwakabessy: 5.5 – The good: he didn’t mess up badly. The bad: his positioning was often questionable at best. Because Inter attacked on their left, Leiwakabessy had fewer opportunities to make plays or be beaten, so he earns a rating higher than that of his right-lying counterpart.
Andreas Constantinou: 4.0 – Should have cost his team a penalty kick in the 42nd minute with an unnecessary hand-ball in his own penalty area, but benefited from the referees’ mercy. Otherwise, the Cypriot was poorly positioned and lacked aggression inside his own penalty area.
Nicos Katsavakis: 4.0 – Like Constantinou, was poorly positioned in his own penalty area, and was outclassed by the clever Adriano. Had a great chance to bring Anorthosis back into the match, but his 46th minute free header was off-target.
Predrag Ocokoljic: 4.0 – Went forward too much. With Constantinou and Katsavakis having such great difficulty dealing with Ibrahimovic and Adriano, it was really unnecessary for the Serbian to make such a great commitment on the offensive end, especially if he didn’t deliver any support, save two blocked shots.
Vincent Laban: 5.0 – Provided just about as much offensively as anyone else on his team, firing a wild 35-yard shot off target and assisting a missed header following a corner.
Traianos Dellas: 6.0 – One of the more active Anorthosis players, Dellas won himself several free kicks, and effectively linked with his teammates on the offensive end. His fourth minute free kick was excellent and nearly gave Anorthosis a surprise lead early in the match.
Sinisa Dobrasinovic: 4.5 – As a defensive midfielder, it was his responsibility to cut off Inter’s attack before the Italians reached their attacking third. This Dobrasinovic failed to do.
Cedric Bardon: 4.5 – Mostly anonymous, and unable to hold off Inter’s relentless attack on the left flank.
Bortolini Savio: 5.0 – Found Katsavakis among a sea of Inter defenders in the 46th minute on a play that should have seen Anorthosis claim the equalizer. Was more active in the first half than the second, and was visibly fatigued in the closing minutes.
Lukasz Sosin: 5.0 – It wasn’t his fault that, every time he got the ball, he was dispossessed by two world-class centre-backs. Sosin worked hard, but didn’t have enough left in him to run out for the second half.
Subs
Hawar Mulla Mohammed: n/a. Yes, he played for half the match, but I don’t recall him being involved in anything significant, or even touching the ball.
Klimenti Tsiatishvili: n/a
Nikolaos Frousos: n/a

Steau Bucharest vs Lyon 3-5, Champions League 2008

STEAUA BUCHAREST
Zapata-5.0
Diffcult to say he had a good game when he conceded 5, but was often left stranded by his incompetent defenders. Made a few competent saves but this will be a night he'd doubtless rather forget.
Ogararu-4.5
Broke forward well at times, but was largely innocuous as the game wore on. This was not really a night for defenders after all, and the former Ajax man will want to forget it, one suspects, as soon as possible.
Radoi-5.0
Another player who will go home frustrated. A captain who led by example at times, tackling strongly and winning his headers, but he must take a share of the considerable blame for the way in which Lyon carved his side up towards the end. A centre-back who is also skipper must help to organise his comrades and he certainly didn't do that when Benzema volleyed home.
Marin-4.0
Largely anonymous, but, like his colleagues, must take a share of the blame for Lyon's goals. Contributed little once Lyon had got a grip on things and his marking for the set-pieces was as bad as anyone's.
Goian-6.0
Took his chance well, finishing from a corner with a strong header. Like the others though, was guilty of some pretty ordinary defending at the other end of the park-which is where he's meant to earn his living.
Petre-6.5
Showed good aerial prowess for his goal and worked hard throughout the game, showing good trength and commitment. Faded like his team mates as the game progressed though and was replaced by Ghionea.
Lovin-6.0
Made some useful clearances and tackled well, but became anonymous as the Lyon midfield took control of the game. Replaced by Kapetanos as Steaua sought in vain for goals at the end.
Moreno-7.0
Had an effective game in attack, looking from time to time Steaua's most threatening player. Struggled to produce anything of real quality when Steaua needed it though, and must have been left very frustrated by the result.
Nicolita-8.0
A real threat from out wide, producing quality delivery from the right hand side both from open play and from set-pieces. His crossing was world-class at times and he will be left wondering just what else he could have done to try and win the game.
Arthuro-7.5
Started well, scoring from a corner in the first few minutes. Another who became harder to find as the game wore on, however, and he did not produce the goods at the end of the game when it was needed. A good performance though.
Semedo-6.0
Sweated and toiled and occasionally linked well with Arthuro and Moreno. Produced little as the game wore on though, and was replaced by Toja Vega in the second half.
Subs:
Ghionea-5.0, Vega-5.5, Kapetanos-5.0
LYON
Lloris-7.0
Despite the fools playing just in front of him, he kept goal competently, catching crosses and making necessary saves. He's fortunate though: on another night it wouldn't just have been three flying past him.
Revellere-6.5
Must take a share of the blame for some awful defending, but contributed well in attack, getting down the flank effectively at times. Showed a solidity and physical approach to the game that vame in useful with a liberal referee.
Boumsong-4.0
A terrible performance from a defender who has not improved since his time at Newcastle. Showed no leadership and no organisational skills, his marking was awful and for much of the time seemed content to watch whilst others did the work. Puel must be thankful for the quality forwards he's got if this is his best centre-back.
Cris-4.0
Also dreadful at the back. The Brazillian seemed to have no positional sense and was guilty, just like Boumsong, of ball watching too often. If Lyon want to improve in Europe then they must find better quality at the back than this.
Grosso-6.5
Like the others, must take his share of the blame for some dreadful defending, but marauded forward usefully at times. Provided the cross for Benzema's goal, which deserves praise, and occasinally showed glimpses of his pedigree.
Makoun-6.0
Was largely anonymous in midfield as the game flowed around him. Seemed to find it hard to get his foot on the ball, but allowed those around him to flourish.
Juninho-8.5
An excellent performance. Probed and teased the Steaua defence with skill and trickery, hardly wasting a pass. His delivery from set-pieces was world class. A true playmaker.
Toulalan-7.5
Worked really hard and showed pasion and fight when his side needed it. Drove forward and produced a moment of sublime skill for the lay-back for Fred's first goal.
Ederson-7.0
Another neat and tidy performer who used the ball well and allowed the talent around him to flourish.
Keita-8.0
A good performance. Showed threat from the wide areas and took his goal well, pulling off a volley that showed good technique. In many ways, unlucky to be substituted, but I'm sure he'll have little complaint about what his replacement achieved.
Benzema-9.0
A fantastic striker's performance. Took his goals well and looked dangerous throughout, even though he was fortunate to face some bad defending. His combination with Juninho looks deadly at times and no one will enjoy playing against him when he's in this kind of form.
Subs:
Fred-9.0, Kallstrom-5.0
Duel Triller Full Attacking Football...
Susunan Pemain:
Steaua Bucharest: 1-Robinson Zapata; 2-George Ogararu, 6-Mirel Radoi, 3-Dorin Goian, 18-Petre Marin; 16-Banel Nicolita, 8-Ovidiu Petre (24-Sorin Ghionea 57), 10-Dayro Moreno, 20-Florin Lovin (35-Pantelis Kapetanos 81); 11-Arthuro, 9-Antonio Semedo (14-Juan Toja 65).

Bayern Munich vs Fiorentina 3-0, Champions League 2008
highlight soccer video, Champions league 2008,Bayern Munich vs Fiorentina 3-0
cuplikan pertandingan sepakbola liga champions 2008, Bayern Munich vs Fiorentina 3-0
Bayern:
Rensing-7.0: The Bayern keeper wasn’t overly tested with saves to make tonight. He looked a little uncertain coming for crosses, but did produce an excellent save to deny Felipe Melo in the first half.
Oddo-7.0: Oddo had a solid game against his fellow countrymen. He combined well with Bastian Schweinsteiger down the right and generally did well against a lively Adrian Mutu.
Lahm-6.5: The full back was quiet by his standards and was forced off at half time to be replaced by fellow local-boy Christian Lell. The full back must have picked up a knock.
Lucio- 7.0: The commanding Brazilian had a good game alongside Martin Demichelis as they shut out the combined danger of Mutu and Gilardino.
Demichelis-7.5: Played well in defence alongside Lucio, and could well have scored in the second half with a bullet header, only to be denied by Frey.
van Bommel-7.0: He’s back in the side and back playing well. The Dutch captain provided the shield in front of the Bayern back four which allowed the others to get forward. An under-stated role tonight, yet important. No yellow card either!
Zé Roberto-7.5: The in-form Brazilian had a quiet first half, but came more into it in the second period. He produced a fantastic left foot finish right at the end to seal the 3-0 win.
Schweinsteiger-8.0: ‘Schweini’ came out all fired-up and showed he was willing to have a pop at goal from all angles. He scored a great goal to make it 2-0 and was unlucky to be taken off in the second half.
Ribéry-7.5: Like Zé Roberto, he had a quiet first half, but came more to life in the second. He took a heavy knock resulting in a black eye, but seemed to spark into life as a result.
Toni-7.5: A mixed night for the former Viola man. He provided the assists for both Bayern’s opening two goals, but was then forced off in the second half with what looked like a repetition of his rib injury from the weekend.
Klose-8.0: The German striker produced a great finish to hand Bayern the lead and led the line well all night. He was always playing off the shoulder of the last defender and was a constant threat throughout the 90 minutes.
Substitutes:
Lell- 6.5: Lell slotted in quite nicely for Lahm when he had to go off providing a seemless transition.
Podolski- 5.0: Given a chance following Luca Toni’s injury, but didn’t really find his feet in the game.
Borowski: n/a
Fiorentina:
Frey-7.5: To have conceded three goals is a little harsh on the French keeper. He produced a fantastic save to deny Demichelis in the second half and cannot be blamed for any of the Bayern goals.
Zauri-6.5: The right back was quiet and penned largely back with Ribéry to deal with.
Vargas-6.5: The normally swashbuckling full back was, like counterpart Zauri, a little subdued and mainly preoccupied with containing Schweinsteiger.
Gamberini-6.5: Tough in the tackle but allowed Bayern through three times.
Dainelli-6.5: Will be disappointed to have conceded three goals tonight, but generally did well against former team mate Luca Toni.
Felipe Melo-7.0: He produced a fantastic mazy run and shot in the first half, which deserved a goal. He was however denied by Rensing and failed to reproduce a similar threat in the second period.
Kuzmanovic-7.5: He was lively throughout the game and unleashed plenty of shots, but unfortunately none unduly tested Rensing.
Montolivio-8.0: The U-21 international was the bright spark in the midfield for Fiorentina- especially in the first half. His clever passes probably deserved a goal as a reward.
Santana-6.5: Of the three front men deployed by Cesare Prandelli, he had the quietest night. Partners Mutu and Gilardino caused more trouble and his set-piece delivery was poor.
Mutu-8.0: He ran and ran and had the majority of the Viola’s efforts on goal. On a normal occasion his efforts would have resulted in a goal, but it just wasn’t to be tonight.
Gilardino-7.0: Gilardino had one great opportunity to get on the score sheet but couldn’t convert. Nevertheless a good all-round attacking display to remind non-Italian watchers of his talents.
Substitutes:
Jovetic: Showed some nice touches, but unable to turn the game.
Gobbi: Picked up a booking as the only highlight of his cameo appearance.
Bayern Perpanjang Nafas Klinsman...
Susunan Pemain:
Bayern Munich: Rensing, Oddo, Lahm (Lell 46), Lucio, Demichelis, van Bommel, Ze Roberto, Schweinsteiger (Borowski 65), Ribery, Toni (Podolski 57), Klose
Fiorentina: Frey, Zauri, Gamberini, Dainelli, Vargas (Gobbi 74), Felipe Melo, Kuzmanovic, Montolivo, Santana (Jovetic 65), Gilardino, Mutu

FENERBAHCE
Volkan: 5.5 -
Made some okay saves and collected some crosses but will be yelling explicit diction at his awful defence who allowed play to develop too often in front of them. Got a touch on Walcott's goal, but it was not heavy enough to put the pacey winger off his stride. Conceded five.
Carlos: 6.5 -
Considering his legs are aging those tree trunk thighs of his still did him proud as he roamed forward well, but Walcott got the better of him on the flank he was patrolling. A clever dinked volley was worthy of a goal should it have been on target.
Lugano: 5.0 -
Shameful marking and allowed Arsenal to free flow with their passing. Was slow to close down.
Edu: 5.5 -
Was guilty along with Gokhan of leaving too much space for Diaby's goal. Misplaced passing.
Gokhan: 7.0 -
Got forward well. Had the better of Samir Nasri for most of the game. Was guilty of some slack passing though.
Ugur: 6.5 -
Selcuk: 7.0 -
A tyrant of a tackler and was eventually booked for his heel snapping. Was a danger to Arsenal's stranglehold on the game.
Alex: 7.0 -
Whipped in a good free kick that had enough height on it to cause problems for Arsenal's defence but Almunia handled admirably. Threatened with some good crossing and passing.
Maldonado: 6.0 -
Made a number of fouls and was presumably replaced because Aragones did not want to compete against an in form Arsenal side with one less man.
Guiza: 8.0 -
Fener's best player, by far. His pace got the better of Arsenal's backline on numerous occasions. Was good for his side's second goal. Deserved his name on the scoresheet for a similar dink to Carlos' earlier effort, but on the half-volley.
Semih: 7.5 -
Along with Guiza he asked questions of the Gunners, and was one of Fenerbahce's better players on the night.
Substitutes:
Bilgin: 5.5 -
Burak: 6.0 -
ARSENAL
Almunia: 8.5 -
Despite picking the ball out on two ocassions, he produced a great captain's performance. Made three saves from one on one encounters. A reliable sticksman.
Eboue: 7.5 -
His defensive duties are questionable judging from tonight's performance as he left far too room when he went forward. He did however make a great goal-line clearance, and contributed well to Arsenal's dynamism going forward, assisted Ramsey especially well for Arsenal's fifth.
Song: 7.5 -
A much better performance than Everton's shocking display. Finished a great move with his right foot.
Silvestre: 7.0 -
At times had poor positional sense.
Clichy: 8.0 -
Great trickery on the left side of defence. Good composure. If there is one thing Arsene Wenger can do it is produce, train, and mould superb left backs.
Diaby: 9.0 -
Outstanding! Amazing feet. This time last year it looked like he had no left foot. Then he is deployed on that flank and constantly criticised, but it has done his game the world of good as his footwork is exquisite. Good goal.
Fabregas: 8.0 -
Played the quarterback role with good effect. His long range passing was spot on and he began many a sound Arsenal move.
Denilson: 7.5 -
Passed well and will have enjoyed his performance. Combined well with Fabregas in attempting to manufacture late goals.
Walcott: 8.0 -
Great pace - again. Had Roberto Carlos - a player whose poster he probably had on his wall as a kid - in his pocket. Doubled the Gunners' advantage within seconds of Adebayor's first.
Nasri: 6.5 -
Didn't play well. Was mugged on a lot of ocassions. His first substandard performance in an Arsenal shirt.
Adebayor: 7.5 -
Held the ball up well and provided ample time for his midfield to join him in attack. Roamed the forward line. Opened Arsenal's account on the 11th minute and silenced the Istanbul atmosphere.
Substitutes:
Ramsey: 7.0 -
A cameo performance was capped with a goal. Attempted audacious passes.
Djourou: 6.0 -
Tujuh Gol Di Sukru Sorkoglu...
Teror Arsenal dimulai sejak awal pertandingan.
Meski demkikan, semangat anak asuh Wenger masih membara. Terbukti tiga menit berselang, Abou Diaby berhasil memperbesar jarak dengan melesakkan gol, menjadikan Arsenal unggul 3-1. Keadaan tetap bertahan hingga turun minum.
Susunan Pemain:
Fenerbahce: Volkan Demirel, Edu Dracena, Diego Lugano, Roberto Carlos, Gokhan Gonul (Burak Yilmaz 80), Selcuk Sahin, Claudio Maldonado (Ali Bilgin 52), Daniel Guiza, Alex, Ugur Boral, Semih Senturk
Arsenal: Manuel Almunia, Mikael Silvestre, Alexandre Song, Gael Clichy, Emmanuel Eboue, Denilson, Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri, Theo Walcott (Johan Djourou 84), Emmanuel Adebayor (Carlos Vela 86), Abou Diaby (Aaron Ramsey 73).

JUVENTUS
Manniger – 6: Didn’t have too many saves to make and that is testament to how solid his defenders infront of him were.
Grygera – 7: Charged forward with enthusiasm early in the game, but stayed back in his own half once the match was sewn up. Did allow Heinze to sneak in behind him to deliver the cross for
Chiellini – 8.5: Ever present at the back. Shadowed Higuaín closely and was still available to cut out any potentially harmful balls into the box.
Legrottaglie – 6: So good was Chiellini that Legro didn’t need to do much but make up the numbers at the back. Had to be taken off at the break with an injury.
Molinaro – 7: Never did step out of his own half. Very conservative and kept it very tight at the back. Had to stay sharp in the closing stages to keep a tight leash on Robben.
Marchionni – 6: Did not see much of him. Quietly pulled the strings from midfield to launch whatever counter-attacking opportunity Juve had.
Sissoko – 8.5: Covered more territory than any other player on the pitch. Won every tackle, recovered every ball, got stuck in to every challenge. Without doubt a Man of the Match performance.
Marchisio – 5.5: A subdued performance but that was his duty… the supporting act to Sissoko. Had to leave the pitch in the first half after colliding with the Malian.
Nedvěd – 7: Hung quietly down the left flank and happily waited for the ball to come to him. Provided the pin-point cross for Amauri to head in the second goal.
Del Piero – 7: Cannavaro warned that a player like Alex could score from anywhere, anytime and he did just that with a superb strike to open scoring. Faded away towards the end of the game but no one would really care about that, considering the goal he scored.
Amauri – 7.5: Made the assist for the first goal and got one of his own and a crucial one, too, it proved to be at the end. A constant menace to the
Substitutes:
Salihamidžić – 6: Played a more advanced, attacking role than the man he replaced, Marchisio. Tried to conjure a few tricks with his fancy footwork put failed miserably.
Mellberg – 5.5: Very casual in his defending. Constantly left players unmarked.
Iaquinta – 5: Barely had a meaningful touch of the ball in the ten minutes he was on.
REAL
Casillas – 5.5: Had a clear, unblocked view of Del Piero’s shot and even though it was coming at speed with a lot of swerve, he should have attempted a diving save.
Sergio Ramos – 6: Looked very nervous in the opening exchanges. Gradually grew into the game with a few threatening runs into the opposition box but still not his usual bullish self.
Cannavaro – 5: His slack marking allowed Del Piero to slip away from his sight to score the pivotal opener. Wasn’t easy for him to play in this sort of environment but he did not make any further glaring mistakes after the first goal.
Pepe – 5: Carelessly gave away the ball deep in his own half that led to the second goal. Other than that, he looked solid in the air and he wasn’t afraid to roam forward to help out in attack.
Heinze – 6: Caught hideously out of position several times and left holes down his flank. Left Amauri completely unmarked at the back post. He did atone for that by supplying the cross for Van Nistelrooy’s goal.
Sneijder – 7: Ran a lot in the first half but saw little of the ball. Made a massive improvement in the second and bombarded the Juve goal with shots and crosses.
Gago – 6.5: Like Sissoko, he ran tireless to clean up in midfield. But he couldn’t provide that extra spark in attack like he normally would during those times of desperation.
Van der Vaart – 5.5: Had a number of long range efforts come close… but his deliveries were a huge let-down. His inability to run past and draw out defenders was his biggest weakness. Ran out of steam in the second half.
Higuaín – 5: Just could not get into the game. Shackled tightly by Chiellini and never allowed an inch of space to run.
Van Nistelrooy – 6.5: Completely out of tune. Did almost nothing for an entire hour but still managed to pop up with the consolation goal with a typical bullet of a header.
Raúl – 5.5: The most active of the three forwards but even then, he was merely running like a headless chicken. Never got the service and had to drop down to find the ball on his own.
Substitutes:
Robben – 6.5: Made an immediate impact upon coming on. Gave the team more width and speed. Would have been a certain starter had it not been for his lack of fitness.
Sang Nyonya Besar Kembali Kedalam Trek...
Susunan Pemain:
Juventus: Alex Manninger, Giorgio Chiellini, Nicola Leggrottaglie (Olof Mellberg 45), Christian Molinaro, Zdenek Grygera, Claudio Marchisio (Hasan Salihamidzic 38), Mohammed Sissoko, Pavel Nedved, Marco Marchionni, Alessandro Del Piero, Amauri Carvalho (Vincenzo Iaquinta 78).
Real Madrid: Iker Casillas, Fabio Cannavaro, Pepe, Gabriel Heinze, Sergio Ramos, Fernando Gago, Wesley Sneijder, Rafael Van der Vaart (Royston Drenthe 76), Raul, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Gonzalo Higuain (Arjen Robben 54).

Manchester United vs Celtic 3-0, Champions League 2008

cuplikan pertandingan sepakbola liga champions 2008, Manchester United vs Celtic 3-0
Edwin van der Sar - 7: Getting back to his best after a few disappointing performances at the end of last season and the beginning of this campaign. Made two smart saves in the first half and was reliable when called upon.
Gary Neville – 6: Still finding his feet after a long spell on the sidelines, Neville was solid and did his best to get up and down the right-hand side. Looked tired and was replaced by Brown in the second period.
Nemanja Vidic – 7: Steady and solid, Vidic led a United back-line which did not have too much work to do at Old Trafford this evening.
Jonny Evans - 7: Stepped in for Ferdinand and turned in a reliable display. Improving in every game for United and showing signs that he has as bright future at the top level.
John O’Shea – 7: The versatile O’Shea played well at left-back. He made the first goal after making something out of Nani’s near post corner and had some nice touches in possession throughout the match.
Cristiano Ronaldo – 7: Ronaldo is still some way from last season’s form, but he produced a lively display on the right wing. Key to most of United’s early attacks, his second half free-kick produced Berbatov and United’s second goal after Boruc parried the powerful effort into the Bulgarian’s stride.
Darren Fletcher – 6: Another steady performance from the Scotland midfielder, good in possession and always keen to get involved. Should have scored at the end of the first half but blazed an excellent chance over the crossbar.
Anderson – 6: A neat and tidy performance from Anderson. Not involved directly in any of the goals but rarely gave the ball away and consistently ensured the side’s other flair players saw plenty of the ball.
Nani – 7: Started slowly, but grew as the game progressed. His corner led to United’s opener and he was full of energy throughout the ninety minutes, central in many United attacks and putting some good balls into the box.
Wayne Rooney – 8: On fire at the moment, Rooney was desperate to be involved and is showing huge levels of confidence. After countless efforts on goal and with an effort wrongly ruled out for offside the England striker was not to be denied and he sealed the win with a well-placed third goal.
Dimitar Berbatov – 8: Berbatov is now coming into his own at Old Trafford. Scored two goals and although replays showed they should both have been ruled offside, he was in the right places at the right times and made no mistakes with his finishing. Also did a lot of all-round work for the team.
Substitutions:
Tevez – 7: Came on full of energy and determination after his recent frustration. Laid on the third goal for Rooney. Brown - 6: Did not have much work to do as he came on at right-back with Celtic hardly pressing forward. Park – n/a: On for the last ten minutes to give Ronaldo a breather.
Celtic
Artur Boruc - 4: It has been an inconsistent start to the season from Boruc and he put in a poor performance tonight. Should have done better with Ronaldo’s free-kick, but only parried which allowed Berbatov to tap the ball home. Also fumbled later in the half and Rooney almost punished him.
Mark Wilson - 5: Was given a torrid time by Ronaldo and Nani on occasions and still doesn’t look fully fit. Didn’t feature at all in an attacking sense, although it must be said, neither did his team for the whole second half.
Stephen McManus – 6: Despite not being directly at fault for any of the goals, McManus and his defensive colleagues were unable to prevent United from easing to victory.
Glenn Loovens - 6: Initially Loovens impressed me and for much of the game he looked composed and solid against United’s star-studded attack. He had a lapse when giving Rooney too much space for the third goal however, and at this level you get punished.
Lee Naylor - 6: Naylor put in a decent shift. He worked hard to get up and down the left to offer support and he did his best to curtail the efforts of Nani and Ronaldo, not a task any full-back in world football looks forward to.
Shunsuke Nakamura – 6: When Nakamura got on the ball he looked like the most likely player to create something for the Celts. Some neat passes when Celtic had their strong start early on, but like his team, faded as the game progressed.
Scott Brown - 4: Brown’s contribution to the ninety minutes did not feature much more than consistently fouling United’s players as they got close to the Celtic penalty area. His foul on Anderson led to the second goal and quite how he managed to avoid a yellow card for persistent fouling is beyond me.
Gary Caldwell - 7: A confident performance from Caldwell in the midfield holding role. Proved to be an excellent asset breaking up the play in front of the back four and was neat and tidy in possession. Probably Celtic’s best player, which says a lot for their all-round performance.
Barry Robson - 5: Anonymous throughout the game. Couldn’t get on the ball and spent the majority of the match behind the ball as United dictated proceedings for two-thirds of the ninety minutes.
Aiden McGeady - 6: Lively early on when the Bhoys started strongly. Tested Van der Sar with a good strike from the edge of the box and was not overawed by the occasion.
Scott McDonald – 5: Worked doggedly on his own up front but was left without any service or support from his team-mates.
Substitutions:
Maloney – 5: Was unable to influence proceedings, a surprise non-starter. Hartley - 5: Main contribution was a petulant foul on Nani. Sheridan – n/a: On for the last ten minutes for the experience.
Man Of The Match: Wayne Rooney.
Berbatov Mulai Nyetel...!
Enam menit berselang sejak dimulainya babak pertama, Berba kembali memaksimalkan bola muntah tepisan Artur Boruc yang mencoba menahan laju tendangan Cristiano Ronaldo.
Susunan Pemain:
Manchester United: Edwin Edwin van der Sar; Gary Neville (Brown '59), Jonny Evans, Nemanja Vidic, John O’Shea; Cristiano Ronaldo (Park '82), Darren Fletcher, Anderson, Nani; Dimitar Berbatov (Tevez '59), Wayne Rooney.
Celtic: Artur Boruc; Mark Wilson, Glenn Loovens, Stephen McManus, Lee Naylor; Shunsuke Nakamura (Hartley '61), Scott Brown, Gary Caldwell, Barry Robson (Maloney '61), Aiden McGeady; Scott McDonald (Sheridan '77)

Baptista Give The Wolf Three Points
AS Roma staged a determined fightback against ten-man FC Girondins de Bordeaux to clinch their first win in Group A as second-half goals from Mirko Vučinić and Júlio Baptista, who scored twice, boosted the Italian club's hopes of reaching the knockout stage.
Henrique dismissal
Defeated by CFR 1907 Cluj in their opening game, last season's Serie A runners-up were in trouble again in south-west France after an excellent start from the hosts was rewarded by Yoann Gourcuff's fine goal. But after Henrique's 36th-minute dismissal, Roma turned the contest around with two goals in seven minutes, before substitute Baptista completed the victory with his second goal late on. The result leaves Bordeaux bottom of the section without a point from two games.
Energetic start
Unsatisfied with the passive nature of the performance at Chelsea FC, Bordeaux coach Laurent Blanc had called for controlled aggression and he got exactly that in an energetic opening half-hour. Captain in the absence of injured Ulrich Ramé, Alou Diarra cut an imposing figure in central midfield alongside the composed Fernando, offering Jussiê, Gourcuff and Gabriel Obertan an ideal platform from which to spring forward.
Gourcuff strike
Jussiê was particularly lively on his competition debut, posing Cicinho difficulties with his speed and direct running. The Brazilian carved the first opening on nine minutes, accelerating through the heart of the Roma defence and collecting Marouane Chamakh's return pass only to see his shot blocked by Doni. Gourcuff, however, soon showed his team-mate the way to goal. The playmaker, on loan from AC Milan, had already arrowed one shot narrowly wide when he opened the scoring with a brilliant curling effort on 18 minutes. After collecting Jussiê's pass, the French international set himself with two exemplary touches before arcing a low right-footed strike inside the far post from the edge of the box.
Riise free-kick
The Roman response came in the form of a powerful John Arne Riise free-kick that just flashed the wrong side of Mathieu Valverde's upright, yet Luciano Spalletti's men were struggling to create from open play. The complexion of the game changed, though, as the commitment Blanc had demanded spilled over into foul play and Henrique was dismissed for swinging an elbow towards Rodrigo Taddei as they vied for a free-kick.
Positive approach
Bordeaux were immediately forced into two changes, the injured Jussiê making way for Wendel, and an extra centre-back Marc Planus replacing Obertan. Nevertheless the hosts continued to play positively and almost doubled their advantage on the cusp of half-time, Wendel nodding Franck Jurietti's centre wide when well placed.
Baptista double
Roma gradually found their feet, though, and with Baptista and Stefano Okaka Chuka sent on by Spalletti early in the second period, the visitors began to increase the pressure. The ten men of Bordeaux eventually cracked on 64 minutes, Vučinić heading Daniele De Rossi's corner forcefully home at the near post. If that was hard on the French outfit, matters got worse seven minutes later as Baptista marked his return from injury with a delicate free-kick goal, lifting the ball over the wall and leaving Valverde rooted to the spot. The Brazil international then rounded matters off on 83 minutes, stroking in Taddei's volleyed cross.
AS Roma: 32-Doni; 3-Cicinho, 5-Philippe Mexes, 2-Christian Panucci, 17-John Arne Riise; 11-Rodrigo Taddei, 20-Simone Perrotta, 16-Daniele De Rossi, 8-Alberto Aquilani (89-Stefano Okaka Chuka 63), 24-Jeremy Menez (19-Julio Baptista 51); 9-Mirko Vucinic (33-Matteo Brighi 84).
AS Roma Bayar Lunas Kekalahan, Gasak Bordeaux 3-1
AS Roma membayar lunas kekalahan mereka di matchday pertama Liga Champions dengan menggasak tuan rumah Bordeaux, 3-1. Dua gol kemenangan Giallorossi dicetak oleh Julio Baptista.
Roma memang sedang diuji setelah takluk atas CFR Cluj dua pekan silam.
Susunan pemain
Girondins Bordeaux: 30-Mathieu Valverde; 6-Franck Jurietti (7-Yoan Gouffran 78), 14-Souleymane Diawara, 3-Henrique, 21-Mathieu Chalme, 10-Jussie (17-Wendel 37), 5-Fernando, 4-Alou Diarra, 8-Yoann Gourcuff; 26-Gabriel Obertan (27-Marc Planus 40), 29-Marouane Chamakh.
AS Roma: 32-Doni; 3-Cicinho, 5-Philippe Mexes, 2-Christian Panucci, 17-John Arne Riise; 11-Rodrigo Taddei, 20-Simone Perrotta, 16-Daniele De Rossi, 8-Alberto Aquilani (89-Stefano Okaka Chuka 63), 24-Jeremy Menez (19-Julio Baptista 51); 9-Mirko Vucinic (33-Matteo Brighi 84).

Cluj Is Not A Joke ! Hold Chelsea 0-0
CFR 1907 Cluj proved their Matchday 1 victory at AS Roma was no flash in the pan as they held Chelsea FC to a goalless draw in Transylvania.
Drogba injured
No one gave the Romanian champions much of a chance against last season's UEFA Champions League runners-up, but they emerged with a point from a game in which both teams struggled to carve clear scoring chances. Chelsea dominated possession, especially in the second half, and Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba came close. For the hosts Eugen Trică missed a glorious opportunity before half-time and hit the outside of the post after it. Both sides now have four points and share the lead in Group A, so Chelsea's biggest concern will be an injury to Drogba who was carried off after 58 minutes.
Even opening
It did not take much to get the vociferous home support going. After only two minutes they roared their approval as Petr Čech had to rush from his area to clear after Sebastián Dubarbier had broken free. The hero of Rome, Juan Culio, made a few promising runs down the left, and almost released Dani after eleven minutes, only the Portuguese midfielder had strayed offside. Midway through the half a flowing, end-to-end Chelsea move, orchestrated by John Mikel Obi, culminated in Drogba blazing wastefully over and soon after Lampard forced Eduard Stăncioiu into a low diving save.
Missed volleys
Perhaps the best opening arrived on 27 minutes, when Dubarbier's lofted pass found Trică free just inside the box, but he snatched at the volley and the ball trickled well wide. On the half-hour it took a last-ditch tackle by José Bosingwa to deny Alvaro Pereira as he bore down on goal. Trică's second volley of the evening had much more venom yet lacked accuracy. Moments later Pereira's rifled low shot from the left evaded Čech's stretch, whistling narrowly wide. Then, with the interval looming, Lampard found Drogba with a free-kick from the right but the centre-forward missed the ball completely. Maurizio Trombetta's men were comfortably holding their own.
CFR pinned back
CFR started the second half brightly, with Gabriel Mureşan drilling in a free-kick from fully 30 metres that Čech gathered at the second attempt. Right away, however, Chelsea went even closer, with Nicolas Anelka, on for Salomon Kalou, setting up Lampard whose close-range effort was deflected behind by De Sousa. The Brazilian defender came to his side's rescue again when he intercepted Florent Malouda's dangerous low delivery under pressure from Drogba, who was taken off injured following the challenge. Luiz Felipe Scolari's team were pinning the opposition back for lengthy spells.
Close shave
Chelsea were determined to go for the victory and brought on 19-year-old Franco Di Santo for Malouda. The Argentinian striker had barely been on the pitch when he out-jumped Stăncioiu to head centimetres wide. Yet with ten minutes remaining Cluj came closest of all, Trică's left-foot shot shaving Čech's right-hand post. The Chelsea keeper then made a magnificent one-handed stop from Pereira as CFR again proved they are a match for the best in European club football.
CFR Cluj: 44-Eduard Stancioiu; 2-Tony, 20-Cadu, 27-De Sousa, 33-Alvaro Pereira; 19-Juan Culio, 31-Dani, 6-Gabriel Muresan, 7-Sebastian Dubarbier; 10-Eugen Trica (29-Didi 89), 17-Yssouf Kone.
Chelsea: 1-Petr Cech; 17-Jose Bosingwa, 33-Alex, 26-John Terry, 18-Wayne Bridge; 13-Michael Ballack, 12-John Obi Mikel, 8-Frank Lampard; 21-Salomon Kalou (39-Nicolas Anelka 46), 15-Florent Malouda (9-Franco Di Santo 74), 11-Didier Drogba (35-Juliano Belletti 58).
Cluj bukan Lelucon, Tahan Squad Cosmopolitan Chelsea 0-0
Memasuki menit-menit akhir, Chelsea makin tertekan.
Susunan Pemain:
CFR Cluj: 44-Eduard Stancioiu; 2-Tony, 20-Cadu, 27-De Sousa, 33-Alvaro Pereira; 19-Juan Culio, 31-Dani, 6-Gabriel Muresan, 7-Sebastian Dubarbier; 10-Eugen Trica (29-Didi 89), 17-Yssouf Kone.
Chelsea: 1-Petr Cech; 17-Jose Bosingwa, 33-Alex, 26-John Terry, 18-Wayne Bridge; 13-Michael Ballack, 12-John Obi Mikel, 8-Frank Lampard; 21-Salomon Kalou (39-Nicolas Anelka 46), 15-Florent Malouda (9-Franco Di Santo 74), 11-Didier Drogba (35-Juliano Belletti 58).

Inter not yet so Speciale !
FC Internazionale Milano and Werder Bremen shared the spoils in an eventful Group B draw as Claudio Pizarro returned to haunt the Nerazzurri with another goal.
Nemesis
Pizarro had scored against Internazionale for FC Bayern München at the same stage of the 2006/07 UEFA Champions League and, after a glaring first-half miss, made amends two minutes past the hour with another crucial strike. That cancelled out Maicon's opening goal, negated Inter's dominance and kept alive the European hopes of Thomas Schaaf's men, who have two points from as many games ahead of back-to-back matches against Panathinaikos FC. Inter, on four points, are dead level at the top with their next opponents, Anorthosis Famagusta FC.
Strong start
If Inter were on the back foot for long spells of their defeat in Sunday’s Milan derby, the opposite was true tonight. José Mourinho made five changes and his charges took to their task with relish, attacking from the outset and threatening to take the lead inside a minute as Zlatan Ibrahimović picked out Adriano's run into the penalty area for a spectacular bicycle kick that flew narrowly over. Adriano and Ibrahimović were at the centre of much of Inter's excellent play, the former delivering a crossfield pass which his strike partner fired wide via Naldo's deflection. Ibrahimović soon returned the favour, dispossessing Petri Pasanen before teeing up a run and shot from the effervescent Adriano.
Maicon strike
Bremen were creaking at the back under the relentless pressure and on 13 minutes their rearguard was breached, albeit in slightly unfortunate fashion. Adriano was again involved, although his attempt to play in his compatriot required several deflections to spring the defence. Having been put clear, though, Maicon made no mistake, lifting the ball deftly over the advancing Tim Wiese. The hosts might have doubled their advantage following a sweeping move which began with a crunching Sulley Muntari tackle and ended with Wiese saving at the feet of Dejan Stanković after a measured Mario Balotelli pass. That could have been costly within three minutes as Sebastian Prödl's right-wing centre found Pizarro two metres out, yet the Peruvian's miscued effort came back off the upright.
Pizarro leveller
There was still time before the interval for Inter to carve out another glorious opportunity as Adriano's cross was met by Balotelli at close range. Somehow, though, Wiese denied the 18-year-old a UEFA Champions League debut goal. After the break Inter continued to look comfortable but so long as their lead was slender Bremen were still in with a chance – and on 62 minutes Pizarro took it, appearing unmarked to turn in Mesut Özil's low delivery from the right.
Maicon frustration
Mourinho sent on Ricardo Quaresma and Julio Cruz as the Italian champions attempted to regain their advantage. Cruz almost obliged, narrowly failing to connect with Quaresma's 'trivela' cross while three minutes from time Maicon was unlucky to see his swerving 30-metre strike hit the base of the post. It was a frustrating night for Inter, though it might have been worse as Pizarro missed again in the final seconds as he followed up Naldo's parried free-kick for the Bundesliga side.
Inter Milan: 12-Julio Cesar; 13-Maicon, 2-Ivan Cordoba, 23-Marco Materazzi (16-Nicolas Burdisso 20), 4-Javier Zanetti; 5-Dejan Stankovic (77-Ricardo Quaresma 72), 19-Esteban Cambiasso, 20-Sulley Muntari; 10-Adriano (9-Julio Cruz 78), 8-Zlatan Ibrahimovic, 45-Mario Balotelli.
Werder Bremen: 1-Tim Wiese; 15-Sebastian Proedl (8-Clemens Fritz 86), 29-Per Mertesacker, 4-Naldo, 3-Petri Pasanen; 22-Torsten Frings, 6-Frank Baumann, 11-Mesut Ozil (20-Daniel Jensen 82); 10-Diego; 9-Markus Rosenberg (14-Aaron Hunt 77), 24-Claudio Pizarro.
Bremen bukannya tanpa usaha membalas.
Inter Milan: 12-Julio Cesar; 13-Maicon, 2-Ivan Cordoba, 23-Marco Materazzi (16-Nicolas Burdisso 20), 4-Javier Zanetti; 5-Dejan Stankovic (77-Ricardo Quaresma 72), 19-Esteban Cambiasso, 20-Sulley Muntari; 10-Adriano (9-Julio Cruz 78), 8-Zlatan Ibrahimovic, 45-Mario Balotelli.
Werder Bremen: 1-Tim Wiese; 15-Sebastian Proedl (8-Clemens Fritz 86), 29-Per Mertesacker, 4-Naldo, 3-Petri Pasanen; 22-Torsten Frings, 6-Frank Baumann, 11-Mesut Ozil (20-Daniel Jensen 82); 10-Diego; 9-Markus Rosenberg (14-Aaron Hunt 77), 24-Claudio Pizarro.

Late Goal Messi, give Barca 3 points
FC Barcelona turned defeat into victory in Ukraine as two late goals from substitute Lionel Messi overhauled an FC Shakhtar Donetsk side seemingly destined for the UEFA Champions League Group C summit.
Late drama
Instead, the Spanish team ended the night on a high, breaking the hearts of opponents who had led through Ilsinho's 45th-minute effort. It took a mistake by goalkeeper Andriy Pyatov to let in Barcelona – he spilled Bojan Krkić's tame cross-shot, allowing Messi to tap in. Then, after 94 minutes, Xavi Hernández played in the No10 to curl a shot irretrievably around Pyatov. The finish was cruel on Shakhtar, who had made light of their domestic struggles to match the Blaugrana stride for stride.
Show of strength
Their coach, Mircea Lucescu, had said he was a fighter, with no intention of quitting a club with one win from their opening nine league games. His Shakhtar team also appeared ready to flex their muscles: witness early challenges by Brandão and Fernandinho that flattened Daniel Alves and Yaya Touré. It was Thierry Henry, however, who might have delivered the initial blow of the Matchday 2 encounter when his run split the Shakhtar centre-backs but his attempt failed to trouble Pyatov.
Flow
In fact, the game's first true save came when Carles Puyol threw himself in the way of a Fernandinho strike. The same Shakhtar player had another opportunity close to the 25-minute mark as Brandão helped the ball on to the midfielder in the Barcelona box but he could only rifle it over. With referee Howard Webb determined to let play flow, the match settled. Mykola Ischenko read the danger to head clear a pass from Xavi that threatened to reach Touré. Pyatov got down to hold Alves's drive.
Breakthrough
At the other end, Brandão's ball in from the left eluded Rafael Márquez and was turned on by Luiz Adriano for Ilsinho, whose powerful shot was deflected over by Barça keeper Víctor Valdés. Vyacheslav Shevchuk embodied the rise in confidence levels among the Ukrainian champions with a swashbuckling run that took him past Xavi and Gerard Piqué, before the latter's illegal challenge. There was no stopping Ilsinho on the stroke of half-time, though. When Piqué could only flick on a long punt forward by Shevchuk, the Brazilian playmaker brushed past Puyol before lifting the ball over Valdés.
Give and take
Barcelona's four-game winning streak – including Matchday 1, when Shakhtar also prevailed – was at risk. So was Shakhtar's lead. A free-kick from Alves soon after the restart brought a full-length diving save from Pyatov and Henry glanced a header wide. Still, a barnstorming one-man counterattack by Brandão brought relief. That sensation could have been more complete for Lucescu had Ilsinho kept his strike down after Luiz Adriano's good work.
Chances
Messi came on for Henry and sent Samuel Eto'o clear; yet despite the spectacle of Pyatov losing his footing before him, Eto'o prodded wide. Invitation spurned. Brandão continued to trouble the Barcelona back line. His marauding run won a free-kick which was floated across the box for Darijo Srna to volley against Valdés. Messi, Brandão's equivalent as the man most likely for Josep Guardiola's side, powered a header over, before fellow substitute Bojan darted between Srna and Igor Duljaj only to shoot into the side-netting. Bojan's next intervention would spark a remarkable comeback, however.
Barcelona: 1-Victor Valdes; 20-Daniel Alves, 3-Gerard Pique, 4-Rafael Marquez, 5-Carles Puyol; 6-Xavi Hernandez, 15-Seydou Keita (7-Eidur Gudjohnsen 81), 24-Yaya Toure; 8-Andres Iniesta, 9-Samuel Eto’o (11-Bojan Krkic 74), 14-Thierry Henry (10-Lionel Messi 60)
Gol Telat Messi, Meangkan El Barca
Shakhtar Donetsk: 30-Andriy Pyatov; 33-Darijo Srna, 32-Mykola Ischenko, 27-Dmytro Chygrynskiy, 13-Vyacheslav Shevchuk; 3-Tomas Hubschman; 11-Ilsinho (22-Willian 86), 4-Igor Duljaj (18-Mariusz Lewandowski 90+3), 7-Fernandinho, 25-Brandao; 17-Luiz Adriano (10-Yevgen Seleznov 72)
Barcelona: 1-Victor Valdes; 20-Daniel Alves, 3-Gerard Pique, 4-Rafael Marquez, 5-Carles Puyol; 6-Xavi Hernandez, 15-Seydou Keita (7-Eidur Gudjohnsen 81), 24-Yaya Toure; 8-Andres Iniesta, 9-Samuel Eto’o (11-Bojan Krkic 74), 14-Thierry Henry (10-Lionel Messi 60)

Awesome Liverpool Beat PSV 3-1
Robbie Keane's first goal in a Liverpool FC shirt and Steven Gerrard's 100th added to Dirk Kuyt's early opener to condemn PSV Eindhoven to their third UEFA Champions League defeat in three seasons at Anfield.
Relaxed evening
Six points out of a possible six have given Liverpool a perfect start to Group D, but their fortunes contrast starkly with those of point-less PSV, who had only a well-taken consolation goal by substitute Danny Koevermans to show for their now-regular visit to Merseyside. Rafael Benítez, celebrating his 250th match in charge, will rarely have had a more relaxing evening patrolling the touchline, with Liverpool looking like winners from the outset and the Dutch champions unable to stop the red tide amid the storm clouds bursting overhead.
Kuyt strikes
If PSV were working to a strict game plan, it would almost certainly have included keeping Liverpool quiet and not conceding early on. That strategy lasted all of four minutes. Fernando Torres met a Gerrard corner with a firm volley and, although Andreas Isaksson did well to block with his feet, the goalkeeper was helpless when Kuyt drilled the rebound straight back at him and he could only deflect the Dutch striker's low drive into the roof of his net. The goal would have been particularly satisfying for Kuyt, a former Feyenoord favourite.
Keane delight
Satisfying does not begin to describe the emotions of the second marksman, Keane, who had been under intense pressure to open his Liverpool account following a €25m transfer from Tottenham Hostpur FC in the summer. Torres supplied an inviting cross after skipping away from Carlos Salcido on the right flank and Keane neatly clipped the ball past Isaksson into the far corner on 34 minutes. The roar which greeted the second goal was even louder than the first – a rarity for these occasions, such was the collective relief around Anfield for the Republic of Ireland forward, making his eleventh appearance for his boyhood club.
Passing game
Any faint hopes PSV had of clawing their way back into the match faded fast after that. Liverpool's slick passing game had the perfect stage, with the rain-soaked surface providing the ideal platform to spray the ball back and forth. Nordin Amrabat's shot over the bar from distance in the 20th minute had been PSV's best opportunity of the first half and proceedings seemed unlikely to alter radically after the restart. The same player tried his luck from 20 metres on the hour, failing to call Pepe Reina into action, although PSV looked at least to be enjoying more possession than they had done.
Gerrard cracker
Spain striker Torres should have added a third when clean through, but his captain Gerrrard showed him the way by driving in a thunderbolt free-kick from 25 metres to bring up his century of goals for the Reds in the 76th minute. Two minutes later, Koevermans pulled one back for PSV with a smart finish from a cross by Balázs Dzsudzsák, but the outcome was never in doubt.
Liverpool Remukan PSV, Gerrard Cetak Gol Ke 100

Sergio "Kun" Aguero Crush Marseille
Sergio Agüero was at his scheming best as Club Atlético de Madrid made it two wins in two Group D appearances with a 2-1 victory against Olympique de Marseille as the UEFA Champions League made a triumphant return to the Vicente Calderón.
Big performance
Javier Aguirre admitted Agüero has not been firing on all cylinders lately, but there was no sign of any malaise in the Spanish capital as he put in a stellar performance. The Argentinian took just four minutes to make his mark with a skilfully-taken opener and although Erik Gerets' team equalised through Mamadou Niang soon after, Raúl García re-established Atlético's advantage midway through the half. With Agüero pervasive, there was no way back for OM a second time.
Competition's return
The match had begun with a crescendo of noise, the UEFA Champions League anthem greeted by enthusiastic applause as the home fans celebrated the return of European football's élite club competition after an eleven-year break. It did not take long for Mathieu Valbuena to remind them that there would be no welcome back party, however, as he found space before firing a shot across Leo Franco and wide of the upright.
Early lead
It proved a false dawn, and Atlético were quickly in front. Maxi Rodríguez's lofted pass to the edge of the box was lovely, but there was still a lot to do. Agüero did it delightfully, controlling first time, wrong-footing Elamin Erbate and firing home his third UEFA Champions League goal in two games. Marseille were stunned, and could have gone further behind when the Argentinian striker sprang the offside trap and forced Steve Mandanda into a scrambling save with his attempted chip.
More goals
Raúl García should have done better with a header soon after, yet the visitors kept their cool and were level on 16 minutes. Valbuena released Laurent Bonnart down the right and the full-back sent in a deep cross to the far post where it was met by the head of Niang. Parity was short-lived and Atlético restored their lead six minutes later when Raúl García directed Mariano Pernía's low free-kick inside the far post. OM again responded well, a Niang effort from distance warming Leo Franco's hands, though hopes of a comeback were hit when Hatem Ben Arfa limped off at the start of the second half.
Agüero inspired
Agüero also took a knock but was soon scheming again, teeing up a chance for compatriot Maxi Rodríguez, whose clever back-heel just evaded the upright with Mandanda struggling to make up ground. Florent Sinama Pongolle was the next beneficiary of a good exchange with Atlético's influential No10, bringing an acrobatic tip over from Mandanda. With time running out OM showed more urgency, Valbuena going close from distance and Niang rifling a left-footed volley just wide. There was no way back, however, and OM will approach their next fixture with PSV Eindhoven feeling they must win. For Atlético, it is as if they have never been away.

Real Beat European Super Champions..
Real Madrid CF took a firm grip on UEFA Champions League Group H as a Tomáš Hubočan own goal and Ruud van Nistelrooy's strike secured victory at FC Zenit St. Petersburg, who have it all to do after a second successive narrow defeat.
Frantic first half
Having succumbed 1-0 at Juventus a fortnight ago, the last thing Zenit needed was to fall behind to a Hubočan own goal after just four minutes. Record signing Danny levelled midway through the opening period, although parity lasted just six minutes as a typically opportunist strike from Van Nistelrooy restored the Spanish champions' lead. From then on it was all Zenit, but a combination of sterling goalkeeping from Iker Casillas, the woodwork and defensive numbers – typified by Pepe's added-time block from a stinging Danny drive – ensured it was Madrid who left with the spoils.
Spectacular welcome
The home supporters responded to their favourites' home debut in the UEFA Champions League by holding up thousands of black, white and blue plastic sheets with a huge banner showing men in black surrounded by stars, a symbol of the UEFA Cup holders' emergence among the high society of European football. However it all went quiet within four minutes as Madrid got the early goal they were seeking, Hubočan slicing Rafael van der Vaart's low cross into his own net with Van Nistelrooy lurking. The Zenit defender nearly repeated the error shortly afterwards when Arjen Robben slipped away down the left and crossed, Hubočan's clearance flashing dangerously close to the post.
Arshavin shines
To the relief of their fans Zenit began to find their feet, Andrei Arshavin almost nodding in a brilliant left-wing cross from Radek Šírl. When Arshavin volleyed from outside the area Casillas proved equal to it but an equaliser looked on the cards and so it proved in the 25th minute, Arshavin collecting Šírl's pass before delivering a deep cross which Danny flicked in ahead of Gabriel Heinze. It was a stylish way to register Zenit's first goal in the competition but the celebrations proved short-lived, Van der Vaart's deflected shot falling nicely for Van Nistelrooy to finish with aplomb.
Casillas to the rescue
Zenit twice threatened a second equaliser before half-time, Casillas intercepting Igor Denisov's dangerous low cross and then reacting quickly to clutch the ball after Hubočan's header had diverted off Denisov. Madrid did dominate the early exchanges in the second half, Robben unleashing a dangerous shot just too high, but that proved an isolated incident as the visitors were happy to sit back and soak up Zenit pressure while the hosts struggled to find any space to press.
Triple save
The exception came when Casillas reacted to Arshavin's cross-cum-shot, then dealt with Denisov's rebound and Šírl's powerful shot from the edge of the area. Another golden chance followed but Konstantin Zyryanov failed to direct his header. Dick Advocaat's men were cursing their luck again when substitutes Alejandro Dominguez and Fatih Tekke dazzled Madrid's defence with a fine one-touch combination to set up Arshavin for a shot that rattled the post, summing up Zenit's night.
Beberapa kali Casillas kerepotan menghalau peluang tuan rumah. Madrid hanya sempat mengimbanginya pada awal babak kedua, namun kemudian memilih bermain menunggu dan meladeni permainan menekan Zenit.
Zenit gagal memaksimalkan beberapa peluang yang mereka dapatkan, sehingga membuat mereka menelan kekalahan kedua di kancah Liga Champions.

Iaquinta Save Juventus face
FC BATE Borisov's home debut in the UEFA Champions League provided the underdogs with a dream start against Juventus, but it was not to last as the visitors were level by half-time, a point leaving them second in Group H.
Incisive football
For the Belarussian team, the first from that country to compete at this level, there was the satisfaction of knowing they had played a full part in a wonderful, seesaw encounter. Their football was incisive and they had the Italian side floundering as Sergei Kryvets and Igor Stasevich provided a handsome advantage inside 23 minutes. But Vincenzo Iaquinta, standing in for the injured David Trezeguet, hit back with two goals before the interval.
Mounting unease
BATE wasted no time pouring forward and were encouraged by the ease with which they found their men in dangerous positions. Kryvets would not take long to show his striking prowess but first laid on a terrific pass for Vitali Rodionov who was only denied by Mauro Camoranesi's challenge. It triggered a rash of corners as the pressure mounted, Juve's unease compounded by a head injury which forced Nicola Legrottaglie off the field.
Cool Kryvets
Vitali Kazantsev let fly with a dipping shot from 25 metres which dropped narrowly over the bar and with pressure mounting the historic moment arrived as the visitors' defence was dissected with surprising ease. A pass from Stasevich was perfectly weighted to dovetail with Kryvets's forward run and with Giorgio Chiellini outpaced the BATE forward showed great composure, rounding Alexander Manninger before sliding in their first UEFA Champions League goal. Legrottaglie was substituted immediately, and Juve were soon badly exposed without his height as a routine ball to the far post cleared Pavel Nedvěd and found Stasevich, who directed it into the far corner.
Iaquinta responds
Juventus were rocked, but with BATE's confidence sky-high and their commitment to attack unwavering, spaces were available for the visitors to exploit if they could piece their game together. They reduced the deficit in the 29th minute when Sebastian Giovinco, fast becoming a strong influence on the game, launched a high ball and Iaquinta headed home. Juve continued to pursue the equaliser before the break and in added time Giovinco sent Iaquinta in the clear, the striker finishing clinically through the goalkeeper's legs.
Chances continue
It was the home team who started the second half on the front foot and Pavel Nekhaychik might have scored but lashed the ball wildly over the top. Then Aleksandr Volodko arrived to meet a cross from the left but his header just missed the target. It seemed unlikely to remain at 2-2; in the other penalty area Alessandro Del Piero got to a high ball before Veremko but could not keep his attempt down. Del Piero came close again late on as Juventus took a firmer grip on proceedings but BATE never relented in their own search for a winner and their first three points in Group H. In added time Manninger was forced to go full length to keep out a swirling shot.
Juventus Bangkit, Paksakan Hasil Imbang
Debut Liga Champions BATE Borisov di kandang diawali dengan baik, saat mampu unggul dua gol terlebih dahulu atas raksasa Italia Juventus.
BATE tak membuang-buang waktu untuk keluar menyerang. Sergei Kryvets dan Vitali Rodionov mengancam gawang Juventus, tapi masih dapat dihalau barisan pertahanan tim tamu. Beberapa tendangan pojok mampu dihasilkan buah tekanan yang dilakukan tuan rumah. Juve kesulitan mengembangkan permainan.
Juventus kian bersemangat mencari gol penyeimbang sebelum jeda.
